Commander and Block Wars

This Saturday, the 20th, we'll have another Commander event in the SUB at 1pm.  We're going to try something new this time (thanks to Skye for the idea).  Instead of having a long list of achievements to keep track of constantly, there will be one or two achievements per round (depending on the number of players). The first player to get the achievement will win a pack and bonus league points.  In addition, the last player standing in each pod will get a pack and bonus league points.  We hope this will be simpler than the previous achievement system while still keeping a balance of fun and competition.  Be sure to let us know what you think after the event!

Also, if you want to play Commander but don't have a deck, remember that lots of us have more than one deck and we'd be happy to share. Let me or any of the committee know (contact info in the sidebar).

The week after (Nov. 3) will be the return of Block Wars!  Summary for those who haven't played: Your deck can only include cards from one Magic block (for example, Scars of Mirrodin--Mirrodin Besieged--New Phyrexia).  It's like Block Constructed, but everyone is playing different blocks.  To make it possible to try out old hard-to-find blocks, we will allow unlimited proxy cards in your deck.  More details will follow.
