League Points and Some Interesting Events

Hi everybody!

First of all, thanks to everyone who's continued making it possible for us to hold events every weekend on campus. We couldn't have done it without you! And now, we're going to show you your league points, which describe where you stand in Magic community based on event attendance and performance:

These points are valid as of the draft at the beginning of Spring Break. The draft we're having as I type this blog post will be added into these totals as soon as possible (and I'll give you the results of that event in the next post with the league points).

In other news, I wanted to give a description of the next two events we have coming up. First of all, on Sunday, April 1st, we're having a Vintage Proxy tournament. The event will start at 1, with registration starting at 12:30, and will cost $5 ($2 for no guaranteed pack). You can print as many proxies as you want; the only restriction we're placing on the tournament aside from the Wizards banned/restricted list (http://www.wizards.com/Magic/TCG/Resources.aspx?x=judge/resources/sfrvintage) is NO POWER NINE. Sorry, guys, but it's arguably the stupidest Vintage deck out there and nobody wants to deal with playing against it.

To print proxies, go to this website: http://magiccards.info/ Search for whatever card you want to proxy, scroll down, and click on the [+x] link at the bottom of the page, where x is the number of proxies you want. The number of requested images will appear by themselves on a page. Hit the "back" button on the top right side of the web page (NOT the back button of you browser!!), and then search for your next card. Repeat this process until you have all the proxies you want. Any deck containing proxies will require sleeves, so if you don't have any, borrow/buy some (you can get a package of 100 clear sleeves for a dollar at Walmart or any of the card stores).

Next, I'm going to outline the procedures for the Uberdraft. You're going to be bringing 4 packs from any sets you want, 3 to draft and 1 as a prize pack. Before you ask, yes, we're limiting the number of Unhinged/Unglued packs to 3 for the whole draft, since they tend to mess things up more than most sets with weird mechanics. Crispy has already reserved his spot for an Un-pack, so the next two people to email me that they want to bring an Unhinged or Unglued pack get to do so, and I'll notify the rest of you as those slots fill up. The only other restriction we're placing on packs is that, of the 3 packs you draft, there should be no more than one Standard-legal pack per person, because, though they're easy to obtain, nobody wants an Uberdraft to turn into a Scars of Mirrodin or Innistrad draft (where's the fun in that?). Otherwise, something you should be aware of is that if the set of your choice produced booster packs containing fewer than 15 cards, we request that you bring an extra pack to make up for it (preferably of the same set).If you don't think this is possible or want to work out something else, let the Committee know.

This event is on Saturday, April 7th at 1:00pm--there will be no cover charge for it because the players are providing the prize packs. We recommend you start looking into what packs you want now, because some are harder to find than others. Let Michael Smith (55greentea@gmail.com) know if you need help obtaining packs by no later than one week before the event so that he can get them on time.

The last piece of information I wanted to put in this post is the address to the MTG forum I made for the community here at FIT, where you can post trades, decklists, etc. Check it out, and if you're interested in any of the services you can get from it, make an account! It only takes a few seconds! :)

Again, I'll be posting updated league points and a summary of our Innistrad/Dark Ascension draft run in concert with Phi Eta Sigma in the near future. Feel free to email me or any of the Committee members if you have any questions. Happy Magic-ing!

~Liz
