Build You Own Standard Final Stuff
In case you missed the e-mail, here's the final banlist for this weekend's Build Your Own Standard. We've built it from cards that Wizards has banned in various formats at one point or another, with some judgment calls.
Again, the full details of the format are here, and let me know if you have any questions.
Note that some of these cards might be in sets you can't choose for the tournament (say, Alpha). Just because a card is on here doesn't mean its set is legal.

No Event Tomorrow + Build Your Own Standard
So yeah, since everyone is probably gone anyway we're not going to have an event tomorrow. That will give you more time to plan for our awesome event next week...Build Your Own Standard!
You probably saw Chris's e-mail about it by now, but the basic idea is that your deck will be built from the cards of two Magic blocks and one core set, just like a normal Standard deck. The catch of course is that you get to choose which blocks you use. My deck last time, for example, was Ice Age/M11/Time Spiral, and it was a blast to play.
Since nobody wants to buy old cards just for one event, we're allowing an unlimited number of proxies in these decks. If you need help with proxies just let one of us know.
Here are a complete list of core sets and a complete list of blocks and the sets in them. Note that Lorwyn-Shadowmoor counts as one block. Any set that's not on these lists (say, Legends) is not in a block and can't be chosen.
We're also going to ban Alpha, Beta, Revised, Unlimited, and Fourth Edition from being chosen as your core set. The cards in them are generally either useless or crazy broken.
There will also be a specific list of banned cards. We're still finalizing it (trying to allow options while stopping the worst stuff is hard), but for now use the combined Modern, Legacy, and Block Constructed lists as a guideline.
Let me know if you have any questions or if we missed anything. Happy brewing!
